Several exploratory studies employing different methods of studying relationship between median width of highways and disabling effect of opposing motor vehicle headlight glare are summarized; three study methods were explored for determining effect of location of opposing glare vehicle on visibility at night; lateral separation and longitudinal distance between glare vehicle and observer were varied; recommendations are made for conduct of target detection studies of this type, and concerning visual problems in night driving.
