Development of equipment at General Motors Research Laboratories for recording and processing original traffic data for later consumption by computer consisting of vehicle detection system, magnetic recording system to store chronological events at output of vehicle detector, and paper tape processor unit to convert event times to standard digital code; sample of morning rush-hour traffic from New Jersey to New York through Holland Tunnel and computer calculations made.
