During series of static tests on pneumatic tires it was noticed that application of force at ground contact surface reduces standing height of axle demonstrating that second order effect in tires can induce bounce or pitch motions of vehicle; experimental program in which tire is supported on air bearing subjected to tangential and lateral vibrations is instituted for study of phenomenon.
