German shipbuilder Heinrich Hartung has designed craft for diving to depths of 22,000 ft; it is based on principle of helicopter, is far easier to manage and has less water resistance than any similar apparatus ever constructed; it dives down by means of 2 propellers, and has turnable rear propeller for steering; light gasoline in hollow bodies is compressed when boat dives and water takes place of gasoline; it will be useful in searching for wrecks and crashed aircraft, possibly for reclaiming oil or sea plants, etc. From Can Shipg and Mar News Jan 1962.
