Submarine with 6 1/2 in. thick aluminum hull, being built for Reynolds Metal Co by General Dynamics' Electric Boat Div, is designed to operate at depths of 15,000 ft and will permit exploration of about 60% of world's ocean floor; displacement is 150,000 lb, length about 50 ft, hull diam 8 ft; separate electrical propulsion systems will give three-man craft both horizontal and vertical locomotion.
