Craft employed by British United Airways for passenger service between Wirral Peninsula and North Wales coast is VA-3, designed and built by Vickers-Armstrongs (Engrs) Ltd; history of development; basis of VA-3 hull is load carrying platform built up in thin gage L 72 sheet; main buoyancy tank is 46 ft 10 in. long and 14 ft 10 in. wide; propulsion of VA-3 is provided by pair of Bristol Siddeley Turmo free turbine engines mounted on struts on either side of hull; duct system, and other details.
