Experimental investigation was conducted to determine exhaust gas ingestion characteristics and induced aerodynamics for large-scale VTOL lift engine fighter model operating in ground proximity; model was powered by as many as seven J-85 turbojet engines; investigation was conducted at Ames Research Center Static Test Facility; topics considered are -- instrumentation; engine stall; jet induced vertical forces, pitching moments and lift; and sound pressure levels.
