To improve existing passenger service and reduce heavy expense encountered with steam operation, Jamaica Government Railway has adopted Diesel engined rail cars; three, recently placed in service, built by D. Wickham and Co; motive power provided by two Perkins P. 6 6-cyl Diesel engines set to give max of 65 hp at 1750 rpm, cyl bore being 3 1/2 in. and stroke 5 in.
