Details pertaining to improvements made to 10 light Pacific type steam locomotives; tests indicate that, as result of increasing tender size and installing more efficient modern equipment and appliances, drawbar horsepower has been increased 27.2% and unit fuel consumption decreased 23.6%; locomotives are regularly handling three more passenger cars per train than formerly and without any double heading on fast schedule between Chicago and St Louis, Mo.
