Dumb barge Rother fitted with diesel propelling machinery and crew accommodation, and renamed Mayes Brook; barge which has gross tonnage of 300 tons, length of 115 ft, breadth of 28 ft and draft of 8 ft 6 in. in light condition, is in service between Beckton and Southend carrying coal and coke; converted by James and Stone Ltd for River Lighterage Co; British Polar engine develops 310 bhp at 300 rpm.
