Discussion of facilities and procedures used by Netherlands Dock and Shipbuilding Co for construction and joining of 210,000-ton dw tanker, which was built in two halves; with cross section 154 ft 9 in. wide and 80 ft 5 in. deep almost perfect fit was obtained, planned 7 mm welding gap varying by only odd millimeter; to achieve this near perfect mating, N.D.S.M. developed and employed laser beam method for marking off sections.
