For calculation of hull vibrations ship is at present considered as slender beam; generally calculated and measured values of natural frequencies differ too much; calculation technique is in development which is more adapted to three dimensional and complex structure of ships; this is finite element technique; for its application ship is considered as composition of plates and beams; application of this method to some simple structures gives encouraging results.
