Report of systematic series of tests, using model ships made of wood, in connection with study of propulsive performance of tankers; both resistance and self-propulsion tests were carried out under full, half and ballast load conditions; effect of longitudinal center of buoyancy on tanker propulsive performance was found to be large, and optimum position to depend greatly on proportions and fullness of ships; important point noted is that if center were taken too forward, effect will be worse than if it were taken too aft.
