Operating costs of diesel piston, 50% supercharged diesel piston, and hybrid rotary piston were studied by determining average speed and fuel consumption for 38-ton trailer truck under controlled conditions; costs per ton and per kilometer were compared; under conditions tested, increasing horsepower beyond 600 had no effect on average speed.
