Tests of various current collector materials and problems associated with overhead current collectors of railroad vehicles are discussed; discussion includes friction problems with sliding contacts, requirements in regard to mechanical strength, electric phenomena at current transition point of contact materials, relationships between electric load of stationary contacts, and their wear; wear of contact strips in motion; radio interference caused by contact material.
