Extensive use of battery powered electric trucks and cranes enables Pittsburgh and Lake Erie to cope with increased traffic and meet heavy loading requirements in 6-track Pittsburgh freighthouse; station uses 37 storage battery powered platform trucks each of 4000-lb capacity, 10,000-lb capacity battery powered crane, three 4400-lb capacity cranes, and 4000-lb capacity fork lift truck, etc.
