Eight 800-hp Diesel electric locomotives placed in service by Australian Iron and Steel Co at Port Kembla plant; power unit is English Electric type 8SRKT 4-stroke, 8-cyl pressure charged Diesel engine, developing continuously 800-bhp at 750 rpm, and direct connected to 6-pole, self ventilated, d-c generator with separately excited and self excited shunt field windings, these being continuously rated at 450 kw, 600 v, 750 amp.
