It is shown that some of problems of demonstrating potential benefits of gas turbine as vehicle prime mover result from use of fixed ratio transmission types, designed for use with reciprocating engines; infinitely variable hydrostatic transmission is proposed using positive displacement hydraulic units; design of hydrostatic transmission and control scheme with fixed turbine and of free turbine hydrostatic transmission power train is considered and advantages shown.
