Results of study on relative tractive effort required by pneumatic tired and solid wheel types of vehicles on tracks both when dry and wet; tracks were made with Jamuna sand and locally available clayey silt to two different depths and were tested both when dry and wet; test results indicate superiority of pneumatic tired carts on dry earthen tracks, wet sandy tracks, and for those with shallow mud; for deep muddy tracks vehicles with conventional wooden or iron tired wheels were found more efficient.
