Results of over 300 laboratory engine cycling tests showed deposits similar in appearance to those found in light duty field service; development of new standardized CRC deposit rating system improving test reliability; it is shown that operating conditions, mechanical variables, engine type, fuels, and lubricants influence type and amount of deposits formed.
