Description of local marine salvage operation carried out in 1962 by local contractors, and also some aspects of marine insurance; Suerte, originally named Samlistar, was built in 1944 at Baltimore, Md; Liberty type cargo vessel of 7238 tons gross and of Panamanian registry was owned by Cia de Navegacien Zita S.A., and on voyage in ballast condition from England to Halifax to load cargo of grain; on night of Jan 8 1962 ship went aground in dense fog on rocky reef off Shut-In Island in Three Fathoms Harbor, approximately 15 mi east of Halifax; salvaging operations, towing of ship to sea and scuttling are reported.
