Analysis of guidance of lifting vehicles onto reference trajectory during atmosphere entry; various trajectories and input quantities are considered; guidance method developed uses 4-state variables of trajectory as follows -- velocity is made independent variable and errors in rate of climb, acceleration, and range relative to reference govern lift; linearized form of motion equations is used to show that method represents third-order control system; usable corridor depth and range capability with guidance system are presented for lifting capsule entering atmosphere at velocity 40% above local circular.
