Hamble, built by Henry Robb Ltd for Shell-Mex and B.P.Ltd has been handed over after acceptance trials, and sister ship, Killingholme, launched; they are new class of coastal vessel of all-welded construction to be employed in carrying products of owners' refineries to coastal installations for onward transmission; hull has poop, short forecastle, clipper stem, and cruiser stern, and is divided by 9 bulkheads; length oa is 214 ft 9 in., breadth molded 36 ft 11 in., depth molded 15 ft 6 in., draft 14 ft, dw 1480 tons; 6-cyl British Polar engine has continuous rating of 1230 bhp at 250 rpm.
