Research was conducted in terms of applicability, accuracy, and efficiency to study time-lapse vertical aerial photography method of collecting traffic flow data; technique was investigated relative to its ability to detect and record volume, speed, vehicle spacing, and lane use information; consideration was also given its use in gathering density, acceleration, vehicle placement, minimum passing distance, and other pertinent flow data.
