Twin jet fighter type, Navy aircraft incorporates multiple hydraulic system which consists of 3 independent systems, one for utility requirements, and 2 for flight control actuation; drop-out ram air turbine driven hydraulic pump and plumbing is provided for emergency purposes; statistical analysis, reliability block diagrams, and failure effect analysis cannot in themselves provide reliable systems; reliability must be inherent in design; effect of contamination, design complexity, testing, and maintenance.
