Study develops and analyzes model for moored ship restrained by mooring lines, using available mathematical models for free ship and force-displacement relationship of cable-holding points on ship; coupled movement (three degrees of freedom) in vertical plane through longitudinal axis of vessel and generated mooring-line forces are considered; case of six degrees of freedom in arbitrary heading is discussed in general terms; motions of unrestrained vessel in harmonic waves, mooring-line characteristics, spread-mooring of ship, ship moored by buoys with uniform waves head-on, spread-moored ship in long-crested irregular waves and effect of nonlinear mooring-line forces were studied.
