Experiments of scientific, biomedical, technological, and operational nature that might be achieved through judicious mix of missions which would bring together Saturn/Apollo space vehicles, experiments, and trained crews, are now undergoing preliminary program definition in proposed program, known as Apollo Extensions Systems (AES); systems capabilities encompass Earth-orbital, lunar-orbital, and lunar-surface missions; some of Earth-orbital experiments under consideration are summarized; selection of some 85 of these experiments is used as basis for preliminary definition of 12 Earth-orbital mission types which are described.
