Objective of space molecular sink (MOLSINK) project is creation of permissive vacuum environment around space component in laboratory to simulate condition in space under which molecules leaving immediate neighborhood of spacecraft have essentially zero probability of ever returning to it; description of system and MOLSIN K analysis, showing that wedge-fin-type array having 120 folded 0. 020-in. copper sheet finarray elements, 10 in. deep, each cooled by 1/2-in. copper tube furnace-brazed in fold provides 10 to 1 molecular trap ratio with only 9-1/2% increase in recontamination coefficient; description of other components.
