Active environments of space, such as particle and radiation fluxes, produce marked effects on spacecraft's surfaces; experiments are being conducted in small space molecular sink simulator system to determine effect of molecular sink of space on die-off rates of spores that might be found on spacecraft components; design details of space molecular sink simulator now being constructed; it is 10-ft diam extreme high-vacuum chamber with walls that cryogenically and chemically pump gases produced by test item; major components and instrumentation.
