Improved Mariner-type ship Oregon Mail, of 14,747 tons dw, was built by National Steel and Shipbuilding Co; length oa 563 ft 7 3/4 in., beam molded 76 ft, depth molded 44 ft 6 in., molded full load draft 31 ft 6 in., total dry cargo capacity 768,121 cu ft; General Electric geared turbine set drives propeller at about 102 rpm when delivering 17,500 shp; plan.
