Experiences made by London Transport Board indicates that substantial savings follow adoption of one type of bus; economies are found in garages just as much as in workshops and bonus schemes are practicable and acceptable to staff; standard bus is 271 ft-long Routemaster 64-seater which incorporates many unorthodox features and is initially more expensive; plant at Aldenham is concerned with repair, overhaul and repainting of bodies; work at Chiswick is concentrated on reconditioning mechanical units received either from Aldenham or from garages.
