Basic factor determining comfort is how much vibration and what sort of vibration reaches passenger; comfort curves according to 3 investigators show that large amplitudes can be withstood better at LF than at HF; research shows that eliminating friction in leaf spring improves comfort more than merely softening suspension; lower initial rates can be employed by making spring progressive, which is achieved by having cambered secondary leaf; such flexible spring means having radius rod locating axle; radius rod can embody torsion bar to amplify roll stiffness.
