Marnix Van St. Aldegonde, second vessel of her class for service to East Indies, is 580 ft. b.p.; beam molded 74 ft. 6 in.; maximum speed, 19 knots; total passengers 775; propelling machinery was constructed under license from Sulzer Bros, by Maatschappij De Schelde; two 10-cylinder engines are each designed to develop 7000 s. hp. at 100 r.p.m., having cylinders 760 mm. bore with piston stroke of 1340 mm.
