Analysis of primary reasons for substituting electricity for steam; conclusions are that steam locomotive will predominate for many years; oilelectric locomotive will be used in increasing quantities; turbine locomotive is still in experimental stage and no figures are available to justify its overall economic position; electricity is finding increasingly useful and economic place in transportation field.
