General cargo carrier built by Short Bros., Sunderland, for Lawther, Latta and Co.; length o.a. 440 ft., gross tonnage 5596 tons, and speed on trial 10 3/4 knots; propelling machinery was built by North-Eastern Marine Engineering Co. at their Wallsend works, and consists of quadruple-expansion engine of most modern type using superheated steam under forced-draft conditions.
