U S Navy's inventory management of aeronautical items represents one of largest centralized efforts in world; methods and practices used in Navy's aeronautical spares inventory management are outlined; responsibilities embrace procurement, distribution, retrieval, disposal, and withdrawal, use, maintenance, repair and exchange; former is supply management and latter operational management; nature of spares are in two categories, repairables, and consumables; description of various activities.
