Built and engined by David and William Henderson and Co., Glasgow, to order of Southern Railway Co., for increasing traffic in motor cars and their passengers across English Channel; length, o.a. 23 ft.; breadth, extreme 35 ft. 8 in.; load draft 11 ft. 6 in.; gross tonnage 822 tons; machinery consists of two sets of 4-cylinder triple-expansion engines having cylinders 15 in., 25 in., 29 in., and 29 in. diam., with stroke of 21 in.; steam is supplied at pressure of 200 lb. per sq. in. by two double-ended boilers; sea speed 15 knots.
