Objectives discussed of new oil development program, including reduced knock, preignition and spark plug misfiring, reduced mechanical and corrosive wear, increased engine cleanliness, improved viscosity, volatility and pour point; field tests by Socony-Vacuum Laboratories, Paulsboro, NJ, employing 201 cars and light trucks and over one million miles of testing, conducted to investigate performance of five oils.
