Designed to connect broad gage (5 ft 6 in.) system of North Western Railway with its narrow gage (2 ft 6 in.); nine 263-ft modified Petit-type truss spans formed originally designed structure, shorter 164-ft subdivided Pratt truss spans being added as result of experience gained during 1929 floods. Mar n 3 p 73-80: Wells, caissons and piers; working season 1928-31; serious damage by high floods in 1929. Apr n 4 p 124-129: Girder erection.
