Appenzell Railway changes over from steam and Diesel to electric traction on mountain line; line is worked by 3-car sets built by Oerlikon Co; comprised of motor coach, trailer, and driving trailer; motor coach powered by four 165-hp nose-suspended motors, giving total of 660 hp per train on 1-hr rating at speed of 19.5 mph, with corresponding tractive effort of 11,900 lb.
