Actual balance weights attached to wheels of locomotive can be replaced in theory by two balance weights: those which counteract centrifugal forces of revolving parts, and those, horizontal component of which counteracts portion of reciprocating parts; results of experimental research show that greatest oscillations of springs reach in particular cases values of 25 mm., and always occur on coupled driving wheels.
