At exhibition at National Physical Laboratory at Teddington there was shown simple and effective model which demonstrated remarkable fact that if four-wheeled truck, unprovided with steering lock, be traveling on smooth surface and have its front wheels suddenly locked by means of brake, there is no tendency for truck, as whole, to spin round; it simply continues to travel in straight line as before, till sliding friction pulls it up.
