Competition appears to be particularly active in Ruhr district, Silesia, and Sarre; distances which goods have to be carried are comparatively short, and hence use of motor trucks is exceptionally attractive; careful investigation of costs of transportation has shown that up to distance of 37.28 mi. it costs more to haul goods by rail than by motor truck.
