Competition appears to be particularly active in Ruhr district, Silesia, and Sarre; distances which goods have to be carried are comparatively short, and hence use of motor trucks is exceptionally attractive; careful investigation of costs of transportation has shown that up to distance of 37.28 mi. it costs more to haul goods by rail than by motor truck. Abstracted from Revue Generale des Chemins de Fer, Apr. 1928, p. 276.
