29,687,499 automobiles were in use throughout world at beginning of 1928, or 7.6 per cent more than at beginning of 1927; nearly 90 per cent of these were American makes; trucks and buses register greatest percentage increase; five-year increase in world automobile use; majority of automobiles in United States and Canada; percentage of American automobiles in service throughout world (exclusive of United States and Canada), as of Jan. 1, 1928.
