Sonntag in 1909 showed that in sectional material composed of number of unsymmetrical elements, asymmetry of flange material introduces important difference to transverse loading on structure; to show validity of theory, author examines number of cases investigated by Bruhn and points clearly to necessity of revision of accepted ideas particularly of accepted methods of determining so-called equivalent sections.
