Mathematical model devised by Eng Div of British Railways Research Dept for use on ICL 1909 computer expresses with reasonable accuracy relationship between various components of system so that effect of varying one or more components can be observed quickly and cheaply using digital computer; given data defining characteristics of traction unit, trailing load, and route geometry, program produces minimum running between all points of timing significance along route.
