Humping sequence at large marshalling yards is simulated by using results of investigations based on theory of probability; computer was used to ascertain points where successive humping units part company; varying distances represent main criterion for humping speed possible at given time; they can be ascertained from humping memory and can be used for remote control of humping locomotive; method is reported to enable humping speeds to be greatly increased.
