12-ton machine, designed primarily to clear snow and ice on airport runways has been perfected and put to use for first time this winter on city-county airports of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County; it operates like gigantic flatiron, by means of two oil fired combustors which focus heat blast of 2000 F on area to be cleared; machine removes snow at cost of one cent per cu yd.
