Description of complete scheme of electrification; system supplied at 660 v, d-c, with top running contact rail and return circuit by way of running rails; 3-phase electric energy, generated or purchased at 11,000 v, 25 cycles, and purchased at 33,000 v, 50 cycles, is stepped down and converted to d-c for traction by means of rotary converter or mercury arc rectifier substations; developments up to outbreak of war in Sept 1939.
